Baton Rouge police and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office were stationed on Interstate-10 to salute fallen Shreveport police Officer Thomas LaValley as his body passed through Baton Rouge around 2 p.m. Saturday for funeral services and burial in Ascension Parish.

LaValley, 29, was shot multiple times 9 p.m. Wednesday while answering a call about a suspicious person at a home in Shreveport’s Queensborough neighborhood. The officer, who didn’t know the man was armed, went inside and was shot, Shreveport Police Chief Willie Shaw said.
