gun schoolby Tom Aswell, Publisher of Louisianavoice.com   My post last week about HB 607 that would allow anyone with a concealed permit enter a public school got the expected response, both from those in favor of the bill by Rep. Blake Miguez (R-Erath) and Sen. Neil Riser (R-Columbia) and those opposed.

While the Louisiana Treasurer’s race did not light up the voter’s interest, yielding a roughly 13.5 percent turnout, there is a very interesting story to be told from one of the individuals involved in the election process.

John Couvillon, polled for Angele Davis’s unsuccessful run.  She was one of three Republican candidate who was trying to garner her share of the 65 to 70 percent of the vote that would be likely be split up between the three conservative candidates which included John Schroder and Neil Riser.

How did Representative John Schroder beat his Republican opponents in the Louisiana Treasurer’s Race, only to come in second against Democrat Derrick Edwards, who some believe has no chance to beat his GOP foe?

schroder edwardsDemocrat Derrick Edwards, who ran without the official endorsement of the Louisiana Democratic Party and without its funding, pulled off a stunning victory Saturday night in leading the field of Treasurer candidates. The runoff is November 18 in which he will be facing John Schroder, who received 24% of the vote.

no doze louisiana treasurer raceWake up everybody!! Tomorrow is the Louisiana Treasurer's Race. On the ballot are Derrick Edwards, Angele Neil Riser and John Schroder--the former, a Democrat, the latter three, Republicans.

However, based upon the statewide turnout projects, it's going to be a real snoozer as in very low turnout.  If ever a time for No Doze.

I did not hear a single comment or word naming the President in the recent black-targeted “Angele for Treasurer” promotion.  The election for Statewide position of  state treasurer is tomorrow.
