The Road Home Homeowner program, the Small Rental Property program and the Hazard Mitigation Grant program will be discussed.
On Tuesday, a detailed report from the Office of Community Development, Disaster Recovery Unit will outline the progress made to date on the Road Home Homeowner program, including the applicants served, expenditures, and deadlines for completion of the program.
Wednesday's meeting will include similar reports on the Small Rental Property program and the Hazard Mitigation Grant program. The committee encourages public participation and would like to hear from applicants and concerned citizens regarding these programs. Staff from the above mentioned state programs will be in attendance to address issues and concerns.
Time for public comments regarding the Road Home program will be allotted on Tuesday. Those not able to attend the Tuesday hearing, will be allowed to make comments at the Wednesday meeting.
The Select Committee was created by the Senate President and House Speaker
to assist the Legislature in understanding and tracking the progress and efficiency of the expenditures of federal disaster funds received for hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Ike and Gustav. The committee will make recommendations to the House and Senate concerning hurricane policies in an attempt to speed recovery in all affected areas of the state.
