Over the past few days, social media has been on fire with discussion about the Mueller report, or what I label the Barr report. There have been accusations made coming from the Trump camp and his ardent supporters in Congress and elsewhere that “Mueller has spoken”, it is time to move on and that people in the media, Congress and elsewhere, who have doubted the president should apologize. Trump and his new “chief of staff” or is it, “Head of Propaganda”, Sean Hannity, appears to go further stating that there should be blood. The president is even throwing around the word treason for some and making veiled threats of retribution.
To the envy of people throughout the world, Americans enjoy precious freedoms which are enshrined in our Bill of Rights. Fortunately, this includes freedom of the press to conduct their journalistic responsibilities without undue government interference.
A new report by the Media Research Center showed that during the first four months of 2018, the mainstream broadcast networks continued to display their hatred of President Trump as 90% of their coverage was negative. This continues the trend from the final quarter of 2017, when 91% of the Trump coverage was negative.

Every day it is becoming clearer that CNN, the once proud ratings giant and unquestioned cable network news leader, has become a total laughingstock. It has literally “jumped the shark,” meaning that a once proud broadcaster has become absurd. The original definition referred to the fifth season premiere episode of the hit show Happy Days, in which the main character, Fonzie literally jumps a shark while water skiing with his signature leather jacket. It is also a perfect reference to a broadcast network like CNN that has diminished greatly in quality and popularity.
As he finishes his first year in office President Donald Trump is hitting his stride politically. Right before Christmas, the President led the Republican Party to a major congressional victory. Passing the huge $1.5 trillion tax cut legislation was not only a political triumph for the President and the GOP; but it will also be an economic triumph for our country. The tax bill will give average Americans and businesses needed relief, will eliminate the odious Obamacare mandate and open drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). The victory was secured despite a very thin GOP majority in the Senate and the President’s perilous relations with a number of anti-Trump Senators. Fortunately, the benefits of the bill persuaded all Republican Senators to support the far-reaching legislation. The booming economy will now grow even faster in 2018.
Throughout most of his first year in office, President Trump has been saddled with low poll numbers. Politically, the President has been damaged by the ongoing Special Counsel investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election. Even though no “collusion” with the Russian government has been uncovered by prosecutor Robert Mueller, the investigation has resulted in two guilty pleas and indictments of two former Trump campaign officials.
At some point in time, all there is left to do is to laugh.
Ever since Donald Trump announced he was running for President of the United States, the TV personality has toyed with the public. You know the routine by now, for sure.
But, is it accurate? Fair?
Whether it fits or not, has news changed over the decades and again, if so, why?
