Where do we go from here? That depends upon knowing, just where are we now?

On Friday, Elise Stefanic got her “kiss the ring” opportunity showing her immense loyalty to the Mar-a-Lago Emperor for his elevating her to Cheney’s perch. The New York State Congresswoman is in perfect company with Kevin McCarthy and Steve Scalise.

This year, it was a perfect opportunity for Louisiana Republicans to defeat a vulnerable Democratic Governor, the only one in the Deep South. Unfortunately, once again, the GOP lost a race it surely should have won.

It must be nice to be John Bel Edwards. On Saturday, he was re-elected to a second term with 51% of the vote even though Louisiana is a conservative “red” state. Other than Edwards, all statewide elected officials in Louisiana are Republicans. In 2016, Louisiana voters supported Donald Trump in the presidential election by a 58-38% margin over the Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton.

“Surprise Medical Billing” is not the only surprise in what you pay for healthcare but it is a part of what our current President was referring to when he said, “Who knew U.S. medicine was so complicated”.  

In an interview today (approximately 3:36:30 mark) on the Ringside Politics radio show, M-F 7-11 a.m. CT WGSO 990-AM & www.Wgso.com, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise expressed his displeasure with the new attack ad launched by GOP gubernatorial candidate Eddie Rispone against fellow Republican candidate, U.S. Congressman Ralph Abraham. Scalise said “I don’t think Republicans should be attacking Republicans.”

On Monday, Rispone scorched Abraham in a commercial airing on statewide media markets. The ad hits Abraham for missing too many votes in Congress and not following through on a commitment to donate his congressional salary. It also claims that Abraham used his congressional salary to purchase a $500,000 airplane. In addition, the commercial ties Abraham to Nancy Pelosi, noting that they have voted together 300 times, and mentions that he backed away from President Trump after the “Access Hollywood” recording was released.

The two highest-profile members of the Louisiana congressional delegation have plenty to say lately regarding the Democrats investigating President Donald Trump. Both Congressman Steve Scalise and US Senator John Kennedy are fierce advocates for the president and because of their respective positions or the ability to turn a phrase, have received plenty of airtime to vouch for their party leader and to slam the Democrats.  Scalise usually appears on Fox News, Scalise or “Any News”. 

As might be expected, President Donald Trump, his attorneys, his political party the Republican Party, his son, his admirers and perhaps one-third or more of the country believes that Robert Mueller spoke, said nothing new and so it is time to move on.

Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise says he is still struggling over whether to forgive the man wo shot him two years ago.  “I’ve never, internally, formally forgiven the shooter from the baseball shooting,” he said. “It’s something I’ve struggled with as a Catholic.”

It would be hard for many, including me, to forgive such a transgression. I’m still personally quite bitter over wrongs that happened to me some years back. So I understand the reluctance to forgive.

Next Tuesday New Orleans businessman Gary Landrieu officially joins the race for Governor of Louisiana. Landrieu, who has previously run for U.S. Congress as a Democrat, changed his party identification to Independent. Currently, there are 1.3 million Democrats, 900,000 Republicans and over 775,000 Independent voters in Louisiana. The fastest growing segment of the electorate in the past year has been Independent voters.

By the way, did you know that the United States has been suffering from conditions so horrific, so frightening, so urgent, that the President of the United States has saved the day by calling a national emergency. All this, so he could get his funds to build his border edifice.

After making that declaration, he went to play golf for the weekend at Mar Lago in Florida.
