During his 20 years in the U.S. Senate, Jeff Sessions was a solid conservative who was right on issues such as stopping illegal immigration. He was the first U.S. Senator to endorse Donald Trump for President and was rewarded with one of the most coveted appointments in the new administration. Trump appointed Sessions to be U.S. Attorney General.

Unfortunately, Sessions was a cowardly leader of the Department of Justice. He permitted Deep State operatives to remain in key positions. He recused himself from the Russia investigation, allowing his Deputy Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein, to appoint Robert Mueller as a Special Counsel.

Federalist Society members, led by George Conway III, husband of presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway, have condemned Donald Trump’s, purported, assault on the rule of law. It’s a reversal more stunning, even, than the midterm rejection of GOP candidates. Trump, now, finds himself surrounded by predators, the House, the special counsel, wary world leaders, women, youth and, add to the list, conservative intellectuals.

“You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last, but whatever you wish to keep you better grab it fast.”The lyric from Bob Dylan’s “It’s All Over Now Baby Blue,” aptly describes Donald Trump’s position now that the House has flipped blue. The president is in trouble, and his friends know it. They’ve even created a new disease, Presidential Harassment Syndrome, to describe the psychosomatic contagion Republicans are fearing after Tuesday.

I have a confession to make.  And President Trump is not going to like it.  I’m a southern country lawyer. Darn proud of it.  In the President’s words, I may be a “dumb southern country lawyer.”  I just hope the President does not have a sneering contempt for all of us Louisiana lawyers who cut our teeth practicing law in the rural areas of the Bayou State.

The best reason to enact gun control in the United States is to keep the administration from shooting itself in the foot. Its lemming-like rush to obliterate gains is stunning in scope and breathtaking to behold. Just as the president’s poll numbers were rising; fever for investigations falling; personal scandals receding; a somewhat contrived diplomatic coup achieved; and oblivion continuing to shrouding Republican cowardice, the administration decided that strict compliance with U.S. immigration laws required internment of children brought to the border by asylum seekers and illegal immigrants. If that wasn’t enough, new directives removed spousal abuse and gang violence as just causes for asylum.

It’s time to calm down.

The feds engaged in an extraordinary step in getting a warrant to obtain important records belonging to Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s attorney. The reason presented in the media so far is there claim that the documents are related to a potential crime associated with the Stormy Daniels case.

In his first 15 months, President Donald Trump has fired more administration officials than many Presidents do in an entire term. At this point, it is essential that he use his Celebrity Apprentice tagline “You’re Fired,” for three more Department of Justice officials: Special Counsel Robert Mueller, “The Jackal,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions “The Weasel,” and, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein “The Snake.”

 In this first 300 days, President Trump has faced intense opposition from a variety of enemies. Of course, Democrats and the media have been opposed to everything he has proposed. The “deep state” bureaucrats have proven to be a formidable adversary as well. Unfortunately, “Never Trump” conservatives and establishment Republicans have also been very uncooperative. His legislative agenda has been stalled as Obamacare has not been repealed and the prospect of the tax reform package passing the U.S. Senate looks very questionable.

Beleaguered Attorney General Jeff Sessions couldn’t remember one thing or another 26 times during his voluntary public appearance before the House Judiciary Committee to clear up lingering Russia questions. Some representatives confronted Sessions over a perceived lack of candor about the extent of his own Russian contacts during his confirmation hearing.

One year ago yesterday, the political earth stood still with the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States. A majority of American voters in 30 states awarded their electoral votes and the presidency to an outsider, a businessman and reality TV star with decades in the public eye, but no experience as an elected official. He won by running against the establishment in both political parties, the media, bad trade deals, and policies of countries such as Mexico and China that he believed were not in the best interest of the American people.
