saterDescribing the Yalta Conference, FDR once said, “It is permitted in time of great danger to walk with the devil until you have crossed the bridge.” Held from February 4-11, 1945, the conference was convened by Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin to wrap up WWII in Europe. Almost from the start, Stalin ignored the agreement as he expanded Soviet influence over Eastern and Western Europe, precipitating a chillier kind of war.

Donald Trump, The Deal-Making Democrat

don dem“Progress Again!” Donald Trump can have the success he craves, and breach the mega-chasm of civil division afflicting the country if he becomes a Democrat. It would mean campaigning for Democratic Senate and House candidates next Fall, but he could do it. Chuck and Nancy would help, and the public would reward the new show with high ratings.

Yabba, dabba do!  It’s back to James Comey is a liar according to Sarah Huckabee Sanders, White House Press Secretary. “He lied,” she averred Monday, and claimed there’s new information that supports Comey’s firing as FBI Director. Brand new stuff! Can’t wait! Comey’s alleged dishonesty when he famously appeared before Congress to discuss his firing, Sanders said, was a matter for DOJ to investigate. She’s just a tad late and a dollar short.

hurricane muellerHurricanes are wreaking havoc. The West is ablaze. Iceland is melting. Nature is in an uproar and Rick Perry still doesn’t believe in climate change. And, then, there’s Kim Jong Un threatening WWIII. In the meantime, in Washington, Donald Trump is making financial deals with Democrats as President Gen. John Kelly runs the White House like a Marine battalion. Through it all, Special Counsel Robert Mueller plods along, trudging through the muddy night like Diogenes seeking just one honest man.

red putin white houseSpecial Counsel Robert Mueller is no fool. He’s aware of the rumors that President Donald Trump may try to fire him, or pardon those alleged to have violated federal law during, or before, the 2016 election. Should a pardon happen, in one scenario, Mueller’s work product is likely to be trucked to the Department of Justice, sealed, and given a disclosure date of fifty years from now. To insure this doesn’t happen, Mueller is said to be sharing his evidence with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

flag borderPresident Trump could build a wall and might make Mexico pay for it, indirectly, if he constructed it out of solar panels and wind turbines. Equip the turbines with infrared motion cameras and long range omnidirectional microphones. Where the border is sensitive, capacity for human observation decks can be built into the turbines. Drones, also, could be turbine based and the wall could be fitted with satellite run gyros to lift, and turn, panels to enable them to track the path of the sun for utmost efficiency.

WTF! Donald Trump remains obsessed with Russia, and it isn’t because global warming is melting Siberia. On August 9th, it was recently reported, Trump phoned Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, to tell Mitch he was a bleeping #@%*, (or such), for not protecting him from Congressional inquiries into Russia.

trumpernaggerArnold Schwarzenegger, the Barbarian, is back in the news. Following Steve Bannon’s walk out the White House front door a Breitbart News’ senior editor-at-large wrote that President Donald Trump risked becoming “Schwarzenegger 2.0.” It was meant to be an insult, but it shouldn’t be because “Schwarzenegger 1.0.” wasn’t such a bad thing, though it started out very oddly, indeed, as part of recall effort of Governor Gray Davis who just, months before, had won a 2nd term.

trump lie gopEvery day Donald Trump is President of the United States, the Republican Party lives another lie. Ronald Reagan would never belong to the party of Trump. Neither would Eisenhower, nor any other Republican President from the greatest to the most mediocre. Trump’s brand of Republicanism isn’t just unprecedented; it’s aberrant and dangerous.

rally speech“Virginia Is For Lovers,” but you wouldn’t know it from this weekend’s events in C'ville where hate confronted our collective conscience again. President Donald Trump, meekly, condemned the violent clashes between the KKK, neo-Nazis, supremacists, and counter-protestors, as stronger expressions of outrage played out on television, cable, radio, and the Internet, but there’s more to it than his tepid response.
