Ocshner Health, Louisiana’s largest non-profit, academic, healthcare system, is not only dealing with the major catastrophic disaster resulting from Super Hurricane Ida which hit this past weekend, but is still coping with the traumas of the ongoing health pandemic of Covid-19 with markedly increased hospitalizations over the past two months.

On Wednesday, Ocshner held a press conference led by the President and CEO Warner Thomas. Below is the rough transcript of the first part of that Zoom press conference. (The transcript has been lightly edited. For the complete interview, watch the video:

covid

Louisiana has never suffered from a pandemic as much as the Delta strain of the Covid-19.

Here are the latest news stories dealing with this issue

How challenging for the State of Louisiana is Covid-19's omnipresent Delta variant? What impact is it having upon the state's premier health system?

Today, the President and CEO of Ochsner Health, Warner Thomas, was a guest on Morning Joe to discuss the raging Covid-19 Delta virus. Thomas said it is the fourth surge in Louisiana.  During the interview, CEO Thomas talked about the impact the virus was having upon medical services, even to the point that over the past ten days, Ochsner had to turn away 300 transfer patients from other facilities due to the level of COVID patients Ochsner is treating and due to the level and pressure on staffing.

Ochsner is Louisiana’s largest nonprofit academic health center and is the state’s largest private employer. The health system has facilities in New Orleans, Jefferson Parish, Kenner, the River Parishes, Baton Rouge, the Northshore, the West Bank, Raceland, Houma, St. Bernard, Shreveport, and in Mississippi.

A SMOKING ADMISSION?

On Friday, Congress released secret Department Of Justice documents. They revealed that former President Donald Trump once again tried to pressure the DOJ to continue his Don Quixote impossible dream--to overturn the 2020 election.

IT ALL SMELLS SO GASLIGHTING

Republicans, especially Senator Cassidy of Louisiana and Donald Trump of Conspiracy Land, are blaming the Democrats, President Biden, and the media for the recent rise in Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.

Cassidy, also a medical doctor, was asked during Fox News Sunday about the recent increase in covid incidents across the nation. Meantime, continuing his assault on the truth, Trump exploded another scud this weekend, designed to spray chaos, regardless of the outcome.

Some far-right wing sites are publishing the identity of the "alleged" cop that shot Ashli Babbitt.  The publications I have seen are showing a black man as the "murderer" as they put it.

You do recall, Babbitt was the lady killed on 1/6 as she tried to crash through the window of the door that separated the rioters  from the lawmakers.

I'm not. So what if the Senate Republicans refuse to approve a bipartisan 9/11 style investigation. By standing against transparency, they don’t mind kicking the capitol police in the gut one more time. Nor do they care about hiding all roads leading to Donald Trump or to others involved in the Jan. 6 insurrection.

They say they want to put the past behind them. Really? Six months past the elections, they want states to investigate election results in swing states. For them, state certifications don’t matter. Nor do over 60 court decisions including those by the president’s own appointees. They’re fine with the Lord and Master hiding his past while he continues to spread the BIG LIE.

NOW THAT THE LIZ CHENEY "ET TU ELISE" MOMENT IS HISTORY...

Where do we go from here? That depends upon knowing, just where are we now?

On Friday, Elise Stefanic got her “kiss the ring” opportunity showing her immense loyalty to the Mar-a-Lago Emperor for his elevating her to Cheney’s perch. The New York State Congresswoman is in perfect company with Kevin McCarthy and Steve Scalise.

Taking the Trump BIGGER BIG LIE oath

oath down

Since the November vote, Trump has been calling the 2020 contest (the one where he got shellacked), a "stolen election". He promoted what others coined "Stop the Steal". That phrase inspired some of his most angry supporters to the "The Big Insurrection" at the nation’s capitol. As a result, hopefully, some of those folks who he whipped into a frenzy will spend time in the BIG HOUSE.

After over 60 court decisions, including his own 6-3 majority US Supreme Court bouncing him on his supreme tush, Trump continues with his attack upon our democracy.   He has "ghosts-of-a-chance" fantasy to change the elections results.  His behavior reminds many of us of an emotionally spoiled-brat--who will torch earth rather than being branded as a “loser”.

SCREW GOP min
So, the GOP doesn't like Trump hogging donors for $ which he is demanding cash go only to his Save America PAC. He claims he doesn't want any $ to go to RINO'S (and fools) and presumably those who impeached him.  He says he doesn't want his name/identity to be used without his approval.
If you're a donor, just what do you do? Do contribute to his personal slush fund PAC or do you stay loyal to the party? True, the party might help people like Rep. Cheney, Romney and others.
But, don't forget, the number of Republican US Senators not seeking re-election is now up to FIVE.  Not good, even for mastermind Mitch McConnell.
