It looks like it’s time to get out the soap powder in Louisiana and the rest of the nation. In protests all over the country, there is a growing call for the banishment of whatever tattered remnants are left from the aftermath of the Civil War. Not just flags, but monuments, names, Dukes of Hazzard, Aunt Jemima syrup, Uncle Ben’s rice, Gone with the Wind, they all gotta go. The cultural cleansing in the Bayou state has begun.

What to do with those Confederate statues that once populated the parks, green spaces and circles in New Orleans, and soon-to-be-elsewhere Louisiana and Red State USA?

It's clear that political correctness is winning and those longing for the memories where men were men and slaves were, well...

So, he are some of the options:

Statues of New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu who almost single-handedly has ripped down the long-standing monuments of Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis and P.T. Beauregard and who is getting other Mayor's across the nation to follow suit?

In a political party devoid of young leaders, some are speculating that Mitch Landrieu, the Mayor of New Orleans, must be a prime presidential candidate for 2020. He was mentioned along with about a dozen other presidential prospects in a New York Times article. This national publicity for Landrieu follows his interview on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC program discussing his crusade to remove four Confederate monuments in New Orleans.

Last week, Louisiana Republican United States Senator John Kennedy, stepped into the New Orleans-Mayor Mitch Landrieu-confederate monument removal-controversy, during a radio talk show conversation with Jeff Crouere of WGSO Radio.

You would think (and hope) that once the New Orleans City Council had voted to declare the Confederate monuments, including that of Robert E Lee (located at Lee Circle), to be public nuisances, the issue would be put into cold storage along with the statues themselves.
