Slightly over a week to go into the New Orleans Mayor’s race and the focus seems to be on a side show involving Desiree Charbonnet-Sidney Torres than it is between any of the leading candidates. Charbonnet is a mayoral candidate, LaToya Cantrell is a major candidate, Michael Bagneris is a major candidate, Sidney Torres is not.

According to the recent Clarus poll, measuring the upcoming New Orleans Mayor’s race, a women, for the first time ever, is almost guaranteed to be in a runoff for New Orleans Mayor to replace Mitch Landrieu. Perhaps more amazingly and historically, based upon the same poll and according to its President Ron Faucheux, the runoff could be between not just one, but two women.
For many people, the New Orleans crime problem has been and is, the greatest challenge for the city, particularly for the next Mayor of the city who will be replacing the current city chief executive, Mitch Landrieu. The prominence of the issue gets even more apparent as the voters face the New Orleans election and the New Orleans Mayor’s race.
In a recent newspaper article that appeared in the Metro Section of the New Orleans Advocate on Thursday, August 17, 2017, it was headlined that, "Bagneris eyes closing gap in the mayoral race." The subtitled was, "Candidate picks up support in business community."
The Alliance for Good Government announced its endorsement Thursday night.
According to a twitter post, the Alliance backed Michael Bagneris for Mayor of New Orleans, Helena Moreno and current City Councilman Jason Williams for the Council at Large position.
