I waited for the hearing yesterday, desperately trying to have an open mind whether Brett Kavanaugh had the qualifications to be our next Supreme Court justice. Regrettably, I feel my conclusions are clear and compelling. Judge Brett Kavanaugh not only should be investigated for not telling the truth but he absolutely should not be our next US Supreme court Justice. Here is a rough sketch as to my basic reasons why I now feel so strongly.
What is the role of a political campaign fundraiser? How does one become one in the first place? What are the necessary skillsets? How does one locate the keys to fundraising and election-winning success?
On Wednesday, September 26, from 7:30 to 8:30 pm, one of the best political fundraisers in the state and in the nation, Alexander, “Allee Bautsch”, will discuss these and other issues in the next Bayoubuzz ElectionsWin.com webinar.
Just what is a media consultant? What role does he or she play in a campaign? What type of media is used now during a political campaign, small and large? What is the role of digital media in winning or at least competing in an election?
Without doubt, one of the most highly-recognized and demanded media strategists in Louisiana and particularly, surrounding the Jefferson Parish and New Orleans region is Greg Buisson of Buisson Creatives.
How important is the media consultant in the elections campaign? Does it make a difference if the election is for a major statewide office or a parochial position of power? Who calls the shots? How dependent is the candidate upon the advertising firm, the public relations persons? What qualities should a candidate or campaign manager consider when hiring the person who might create the ads, the TV spots, the Internet buys? What if the campaign goes into crises mode, who do you call, what do you do?
What must a candidate running for public office do to get noticed? Does it make a difference whether the candidate is new to the political scene versus someone who has tire marks of experience? Has the Internet changed this process and if so, how? What role does polling have for those who are new to the campaign trail, compared to someone who has a track history of electioneering? Are polls necessary in all races?
The recent news explosion of allegations of rape being made by a now-Stanford professor Christine Ford against the then teenager and now Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, is raging.
It’s another issue separating left from right, Trumpers from the Trump Derangement Syndrome crowd and pro-lifers versus pro-choicers. It has taken center stage. Move over drenched Carolinas. Take the bench for a while Paul Manafort.
Question: What do you get when a Fried Chicken, two New Orleans City Councilpersons, a Louisiana State legislator, a Jefferson Parish Coroner, a New Orleans music and TV personality and a New Orleans TV sports commentator cross the road?
Answer: You'll have to check it out Thursday night at Politics with a Punch.
After all, with mid-term elections in the air, and footballs flying around the dome, and chicken frying becoming a New Orleans fall festival, and with local politics always percolating and crime in the street always in the news, what’s more is there to do?
It’s not pretty, but it’s powerful.
And more than anything else, it is far from being a witch-hunt.
By now, you good readers will realize I’m referring to the Mueller investigation and its most recent major win, the guilty plea and the cooperation agreement with former President Donald Trump campaign chairperson, Paul Manafort.
The controversy over Nike shoes, Colin Kapernick, the NFL, President Donald Trump, respecting the American Flag, peaceful protest, rights of public entities responding to controversial political decisions made by private industry, continues. Howover as for now, it appears that one of the players who emerged in this flap has taken a knee.
The Kenner Mayor, Ben Zahn has rescinded his position on withdrawing public support for Nike, apparantly falling to political pressure after being a focus of intensed national controversy. Zahn said in a news conference his recanting was due to legal advice he received from the city attorney.
As stated by one member of the Louisiana black caucus, on Facebook this afternoon:
While Donald Trump should get credit for continuing the President Obama US economic recovery and while he absolutely deserves credit for expanding it with deregulations and corporate tax cuts, the harm he is doing in other areas cannot be overstated.
In the past week, I have become even more convinced that he is not only very weak on crime but is creating more FAKE scandal for political purposes. Of course, I should also add to the mix his incredible inability to get beyond his own sense of self which was on full display this weekend until yesterday after war hero and extraordinary US Senator, John McCain, passed away.
