Perhaps one of the legacies the recently deceased former Governor, Edwin Edwards, will forever maintain is his slaying of David Duke in a world-wide watched election for the state’s stop spot, Governor of the State of Louisiana.

President Donald Trump is campaigning for Louisiana GOP gubernatorial candidate Eddie Rispone today in Bossier City. This marks his third rally in Louisiana in recent weeks. He is working overtime to try to unseat Democrat incumbent Governor John Bel Edwards. Vice President Mike Pence has also headlined a rally in Louisiana and hosted multiple high dollar fundraisers. Tomorrow, he will call into the Ringside Politics radio show, M-F 7-11 a.m. CT on WGSO 990-AM & www.Wgso.com, to urge listeners to support Rispone for Governor.

It has been thirty years since David Duke won his only election victory, as a State Representative, in Louisiana. He followed that race with losses for U.S. Senate, Governor of Louisiana, U.S. President, U.S. Senate, U.S. Congress and U.S. Senate.

Today, his following is mostly based online and outside of Louisiana and his political standing in Louisiana is non-existent. Nevertheless, liberals continue to resurrect the name of David Duke, former KKK leader, to motivate African American voters in Louisiana to support Democrats.

My my!  How things have changed.

It goes without saying that Eddie Rispone is in a surprise runoff with incumbent Democrat, John Bel Edwards for Louisiana Governor. Somehow, a very rich, but politically unknown, Rispone morphed into Donald Trump.  He, wore Trump  around his neck. He  covered himself with Trump cologne and met him at the alter last week along with fellow gubernatorial candidate and ardent Trump name-dropper, Congressman Ralph Abraham.

My response to the Republican National Committee:

On Friday (Aug. 23),I received the attached “Trump Agenda Survey,” aka “A Project of the Republican National Committee,” cleverly disguised as a solicitation for a monetary contribution even though I was forced to walk away from the Republican Party several years ago because:

I hear you.

My friends, i understand your concerns. I don't agree with the "squad" or the politics of the four Congresswomen making all of the ruckus. I absolutely  don't like some of their comments. I believe Congresswoman Omar has said some really outrageous things and has made some comments that can easily be interpreted as anti-Semitic. I am also thankful to President Trump for pointing out their political positions that hurt Israel and defending Jewish people, which I am one. 

Words matter.

Ever more so than before, words of our leaders, our media, political opponents and our own words matter.

So, when I witness the country seeming to come apart, I look to words of those who want radical change.

One of those individuals is people such as David Duke.

Wait, don’t say it. I think I know what you’re thinking.

How did a guy from New Orleans, whose family did not seem to possess any known or public anger against minorities become such a vehement white supremacist and international critic of Jewish people and the State of Israel? 

The first time I encountered David Duke was in college. He had begun to make a name for himself on the LSU campus, taking part in its free-speech alley. I was a student at the University of New Orleans and one night, he spoke to an auditorium-packed room on campus. I was personally very impressed with his intelligence, his oratory skills, but very concerned about what I considered to be his outlandish views on race and religion.

David Duke has certainly become a household name in the United States and in some respects, worldwide.

He is an integral part of an angry moment in Louisiana and America’s history.

So, who is he? How did he become such a virulent white supremacist and anti-Semite?  What do we know about him that might be helpful to understand others who peddle in the far-right wing (or even far-left) swirl?
