Louisiana Should Follow The Pack With Green Bay

Jim BrownSo who ya’ rootin’ for in the Super Bowl game on Sunday?  It’s an easy choice for me living down here in Louisiana.  The Packers are one of the best examples of how a sports franchise should operate. They don’t go to the state capitol hat in hand, looking for a handout.  The team is owned by citizen stockholders all over Wisconsin, and the Packers’ management doesn’t regularly try to blackmail public officials into giving more handouts under threat of picking up and moving the franchise.

Ron ChapmanThe Middle East and Africa are unstable and uncertain.  Events unfolding in Tunisia and Egypt have spread throughout the region: Jordan, Algeria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Gabon, Sudan, etc.   All are ruled by entrenched families who maintain control through security forces and drain the public treasury for personal gain.   They live high while most of the population lives below the United Nations official poverty line of $2 per day.  In Egypt, 40% fall into this category. A reaction was long overdue.

After the nationwide Republican debacle two years ago, I thought the Republican Party needed to mix things up.

My first choice to lead the Republican National Committee was Newt Gingrich.  While his time as speaker was marred with public relation blunder after another, nobody questioned his genius as the leader of the historic conservative insurgency.

After the party had gone stale with the public as George W. Bush’s administration drew to a close, I felt Newt, who was a better revolutionary than an administrator, was the right man to develop and execute the GOP Comeback 2.0.

It may be the ugliest, cruelest, and most vicious process engaged in by the Legislature. It is called “redistricting.” In some ways it is reminiscent of the Civil War: North against South and friend against friend, with significant racial implications added to the mix. It is the most contentious process legislators are engaged in—and it begins soon.

On February 3, all of the key population numbers for parishes and legislative and congressional districts will be available. Public hearings will then be held around the state and on March 20 the Legislature will convene in Special Session to draw the lines. When the opening gavels bang, the Capitol may quickly devolve into a spectacle reminiscent of the opening scene of the movie “Gladiator.”

Below is a column by former US Congressman Anh “Joseph” Cao, from New Orleans , who has written about the "Safety, Security, and Welfare of Communities and the Political Process in the aftermath of the Events in Arizona".

New Orleans Saints will be playing without the services of star safety Malcolm Jenkins.  Also, tightend Jimmy Graham will not be playing in the playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Here are the Gameday inactive reports released by the Saints and the Seahawks prior to game time.

Jeff CrouereThe national debt of the United States of America has been growing at an alarming rate. On December 31, our national debt topped the $14 trillion level. When Ronald Reagan left office in 1989, the national debt was just over $2 trillion. In 22 years, it has increased 700 percent.

Today, the debt is accumulating with amazing speed. On June 3, 2010, the national debt reached $13 trillion. In a mere seven months, another trillion dollars had been added to this monstrous debt.

Barack Obama has presided over the biggest spending administration in American history. When Obama took office, the national debt was $10.6 trillion, so it has increased an astounding $3.4 trillion in less than two years.

Summary: The New Orleans Saints will be playing the Seattle Seahawks in the Wildcard NFC Playoff game without the services of Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory--both who have been put on injured reserve.

It was in attending several neighborhood meetings that inspired Willie Jones to run for the open District 101 State House seat in the January 22nd special election to succeed Cedric Richmond.
In those gathering of his neighbors, Jones saw that everyone shared the same concern “more police presence” and a frustration at the pace of recovery.

President Barack Obama held a press conference on Wednesday to talk about the Congressional session, the passing of the START Treaty, bipartisanship, the budget, the national debt, the "Lame Duck" session, gays in the military (Don't Ask, Don't Tell) and other issues.
