LSU coach Les Miles is expected to meet with Michigan officials on Tuesday about their vacant head-coaching job,

Miles, 57, played at Michigan and played and coached under Bo Schembechler.

He wasn't officially offered the job in 2007 when Lloyd Carr retired, but Miles has long talked of his love for Michigan.

He makes $3.9 million per year and it would cost Michigan about $1.5 million  to buy out his contract.

"I'm told that we will talk, but that time and place has not been identified," saint Miles. "It's hard for me to speculate to the substance of the meeting."

Miles, who attended LSU corneback Patrick Peterson's news conference to announce that he's leaving for the NFL, is scheduled to speak in Dallas on Tuesday at the American Football Coaches Association convention. Miles' agent,George Bass, is based in Dallas.

Miles told his players he's returning to LSU. Coaches at competing schools are telling their recruits Miles is leaving.
