New Orleans medical and biotech community has a great opportunity to thrive in the post-Katrina environment.  On January 14, the New Orleans BioTech District held a conference to discuss issues related to the growth of that sector and other related industries.

In an interview with Bayoubuzz.com, LSU’s economist James Richardson, Ph.D. said that by conservative numbers, the district could create 17.2 thousand jobs in 20 years.

James P. McNamara, Greater New Orleans Biosciences Economic Development District, in a speech at the conference luncheon discussed the importance of funding the district to ensure its potential.
