Louisiana Treasurer John Kennedy will not be a candidate for Louisiana Governor this year said WGSO Ringside  Politics radio talk show host, Jeff Crouere.

Crouere told Bayoubuzz that he was interviewing Kennedy Friday morning when a caller asked the treasurer if he would be a candidate for Governor.  According to Crouere, Kennedy said he would not and instead was running for re-election.

There has been speculation that Kennedy, a Democrat turned Republican would take on Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, also a Republican.

Kennedy also said he would be focusing upon trying to convince the Jindal administration to accept his plan in dealing with the state budget problem which appears to be approximately $1.6B for the upcoming fiscal year.

Earlier this month, pollster Verne Kennedy (no relation to the treasurer) polled the John Kennedy  versus Bobby Jindal, who has seen significant slippage with voter approval with a 49% approval.

However, according to the same poll, if Kennedy and Jindal were now running for Governor, the current governor would win by a landslide.

“I am sorry to hear he is not running for governor” Crouere told Bayoubuzz.  “I wish he would.”

WGSO podcast: Kennedy's interview is on last quarter of program.
