Baton Rouge, LA -A day after a flurry of reports that Attorney General Buddy Caldwell will be switching to the Louisiana GOP, today, Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger Villere announced the appointments of Jason Doré as Interim Executive Director and Jay Batt as Deputy Chairman.  In making the announcement Chairman Villere said:

"The Republican Party of Louisiana is pleased to add such distinguished and seasoned political professionals to our team as we ramp up efforts ahead of this fall's crucial elections.  Both Jason and Jay have served our party well for many years and bring with them vast experience.  I look forward to working with them to grow our party and help our candidates succeed."

Jason Doré, a Lafayette native, received his B.A. in Mass Communications from Louisiana State University and went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center.  Upon completing his education, Doré served as political and communications director for the Republican Party of Louisiana during the 2007 election cycle when the party made unprecedented gains in statewide officials and members of the Louisiana State House and Senate.  Since leaving the LA GOP in 2008 he has remained very active in conservative politics as an aide to various campaigns. Jason is a founding partner of the Christensen, Doré, Jeansonne, and Shahla law firm based out of Baton Rouge.

"The Republican Party of Louisiana has made tremendous strides in recent election cycles and I look forward to working with Chairman Villere, our party leadership, and our Republican candidates to both maintain and extend those successes this year," said Doré.

Jason takes over day-to-day operations at GOP headquarters from Charlie Davis who has served the Party well as Deputy Chairman and Executive Director since May 2010.  During Davis' time as Deputy Chairman the LA GOP won 6 of 7 U.S. congressional races, re-elected the first Republican Senator from Louisiana since Reconstruction, captured the first Republican majority in the LA House of Representatives in the modern era, and positioned the party well to gain a Republican majority in the LA State Senate this year.

Additionally, former New Orleans City Councilman Jay Batt joins the LA GOP leadership team as Deputy Chairman to assist with candidate recruitment and fundraising across the state.  As a former elected official at the city level (City Concilman for New Orleans), Chairman of the Orleans Parish GOP, a representative of the party on the Republican State Central Committee, and as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2004 and 2008, Batt has served with distinction at every level.  Batt is the co-owner of several Jos. A. Bank clothing stores and is active in civic organizations and neighborhood associations throughout the New Orleans area.
