At first we were told that Osama was living in a mansion, and then we saw pictures of a dump in squalid condition. Initially, we were told Osama was armed and engaged in a firefight with the Navy Seals. Later, we learned he was unarmed. At first Obama administration officials informed us that Osama hid behind a woman, but then we were told that he did not cower but charged the Navy Seals without a weapon. In the direct aftermath of the operation, we were told that Bin Laden would not have been taken as a prisoner, but then we learned he would have been captured if he did not resist. But how did he resist without a weapon?
There has been confusion about who was there, who was killed and who has captured. Was Osama’s wife killed, captured or injured? Did she try to protect him or did she call his name out? Were there children and did they scamper out of the building?
What is most upsetting is that right after the death of Osama Bin Laden, there was a rush to respectfully bury his body in the Arabian Sea. This was supposedly in accordance with Islamic tradition. Yet, Islamic leaders are now blasting the sea burial as an affront to their religious customs. So, the administration’s attempt to be respectful has backfired.
It was nothing less than an outrage that his body was buried at sea after a traditional Islamic burial ceremony. His body was washed and draped in a white cloth. During the funeral, an Islamic cleric read verses of the Koran. This whole ceremony borders on the ridiculous especially since Bin Laden did not show any respect toward the thousands of victims he killed. This mass murderer did not deserve any type of respectful treatment befitting a man of peace for he was a man who thrived on creating mayhem.
Today the President announced that the photo of Bin Laden will not be released.. This is supposedly an act of compassion toward the Islamic world as the administration is very worried about inflaming radicals who may try to harm innocent Americans. Yet, the refusal to show the picture will just lead to more people around the world who will doubt that Bin Laden is really dead. In fact, some cling to the belief that he died several years ago. The rumors and skeptics are already all over the Internet and this decision will only heighten their suspicion.
Why would President Obama want to protect the image of Osama Bin Laden? The world has seen the pictures of his victims, the innocent civilians falling from the World Trade Center. The world saw the beheading of American civilian Nick Berg who was captured by Islamic terrorists. We saw the dead bodies of the vile sons of Saddam Hussein and we witnessed the capture and ultimate hanging of the brutal Iraqi dictator.
In the middle of a war, it is not the time to worry about political correctness. Yet, even the “Geronimo” code name for Osama Bin Laden is being criticized today by American Indians who believe it desecrates the name of their great warrior. So, do we have to check with American Indians before we can give terrorists code names?
All of this is becoming absurd and is indicative of the disease of political correctness that is enveloping our nation.
Instead of being worried about the feelings of Muslims, American Indians or other minority groups, our only focus should be on the national security of the United States of America. If the terrorists succeed, there will be no need to consider religious, ethnic or cultural sensitivities, for our country will be destroyed.
This is a fight to save America and defeat radical Islamic terrorists. Our brave Navy Seals have just killed enemy number one and instead of worrying about offending everyone, we should be celebrating this victory and figuring out which terrorist leader to target next.
