New OrleansTomorrow, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, in partnership with the White House Business Council, Office of Public Engagement, and Domestic Policy Council will host an Urban Entrepreneurship Forum at Xavier University. The Forum will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Xavier University Center.

The forum in New Orleans, which will focus on providing tools to support job growth and foster economic success for local entrepreneurs, follows the first Urban Entrepreneurship Summit that was held at Rutgers Business School in Newark, NJ, in June. A similar event will be held in Atlanta, GA, with Mayor Kasim Reed on July 29.

Earlier this year, President Obama re-launched the White House Business Council, which focuses on gathering ideas from the private sector and working in close coordination to support the growth and success of American businesses and entrepreneurs.

To focus on these initiatives to boost job growth in America’s cities, the White House Business Council, the White House Office of Public Engagement and the Domestic Policy Council are partnering with mayors for forums concentrated on ways to strengthen urban entrepreneurship.

The Forum will include keynote addresses and panel discussions by national experts on a variety of topics targeting small businesses and entrepreneurs.  The day will culminate in a Pitch Event presented by 100 Urban Entrepreneurs, a program dedicated to helping provide a meaningful, long-term economic boost to urban communities throughout the United States by supporting minority entrepreneurship at its earliest stages. Pre-selected Entrepreneurs will make the best case for their business in front of those attending the forum and a panel of judges, competing for $10,000 in startup financing and eight weeks of intensive business monitoring.
