graham-panthersWith the Pro “Bore” Bowl behind us, we can swivel our attention to the Super Bowl in Indy, the build up to which may be summarized in three words: Manning on Manning.

A game starring Eli Manning and hosted in effect by older bro Peyton is what you could call a media feast

Outside of the game itself, the most popular topic of conversation-- will Peyton return to the Colts next season;  Throw in the fact that the game is playing inside Peyton's building.

Were the Colts to not exercise the $28 million option on March 8, there is a non-exercise fee of the same $28 million which will be due two days before the 2012 League Year on March 11.

The Colts can't simply let the option date pass without taking action, to do so would put them on the hook for the same amount and not having Manning.

I believe the Colts will take an affirmative step and release Manning.   There's no royalty or loyalty in the NFL.

Manning will become the most attractive free agent in football history.

Dolphins fans will have a special interest in the game because of all the speculation that Manning possibly might end up with their team.

The’re rooting in the Super Bowl, if it's not for Tom Brady, it'll be for Manning.

The one who isn't playing.

Colts owner Jim Irsay and the GM and coach he has brought in will want to proceed in rebuilding without Peyton, who will become a free agent. The Colts will plan to draft quarterback Andrew Luck with the No. 1 selection in the draft.

The Super Bowl wouldn't be in Indy if Peyton hadn't been with the Colts.

"It’s not issue with me, it's a health issue”, said Irsay. Peyton has had three neck surgeries and doctors haven't yet given him an OK to play again.

Peter King of and NBC Sports provided a story on Sunday that Manning was struggling to get healthy from his third neck surgery. His passing arm has been slow to heal and is not yet 100 per cent.

Irsay denies that a decision on Manning was made weeks ago.

The Super Bowl of Free Agency has begun.

Pro Bowl and Drew Brees

Drew Brees was 10-of-14 for 146 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's Pro Bowl in Honolulu. He also tried a drop-kick extra point.  Tight end Jimmy Graham caught 5 passes for 74 yards and had a two-yard touchdown catch from Brees.  Cardinals Patrick Peterson, the rookie from LSU, returned four kickoffs for a 30.6-yard average and had an interception.  Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall caught four touchdown passes and was named the game's MVP. The AFC won 59-41.

Said Marshall: "I wanted it. It's the Pro Bowl. Some guys are playing 100 per cent, some guys are playing 90 per cent, some guys aren't playing at all, but it means a lot to me to be up in the rafters with these guys."

SOME hither, others yon: Will Blackwell played most of the game at left guard while strong safety Brandon Taylor and tight end Deangelo Peterson saw limited action in Saturday's Senior Bowl. Taylor grabbed one interception for 21 yards and Peterson caught two passes for a net 3 yards. The North won, 23-19...Football games have 12 minutes of action. That's six minutes for the starters...

Robert Meachem led Saints wide receivers in playing time this season. He was involved in 64.4 per cent of their offensive plays. Other receivers and their playing time percentages: Devery Henderson 62.8, Marques Colston 57.2, Lance Moore 36, and Adrian Arrington 4.51...
