statonThere may not be NFL games in 2011. If the owners decide on a lockout, the players have more to lose in the short term if there is a work stoppage. The players will run out of money and the owners will be paid. The owners will come out ahead in this one. Despite the high salaries many will go broke if they missed a significant portion of the season. It's sad statement but rings true.  A lockout next off season looks almost inevitable now, but the real test for the union will come closer when to when regular player paychecks in Week One are scheduled to show up...

ESPN.com has named Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams as the NFL South's best coordinator. Writes Pat Yasinskkas; "There's no way I'd even argue with this consensus of voters on this one. Hiring Williams to run the Saints defense is the main reason Sean Payton and the Saints won the Super Bowl." He named Falcons offensive line coach the best position coach in the division. "Carolina running backs coach Jim Skipper (Saints assistant (1986-95) and Saints receivers coach Curtis Johnson were the popular choices among readers. I'm not disputing that Skipper and Johnson are excellent coaches, but they've got some talent to work with. I'm going with Boudreau because, for the last two seasons, he's been getting a lot out of an Atlanta offensive line that's not stacked with blue-chip players."...

Last in the league in 2008 with the Rams, wide receiver Eddie Kennison signed a ceremonial contract with the Chiefs on Monday so that he could retire as a member of the team. The former LSU and Saints receiver (1999). Drafted No. 18 by the Rams in 1996, Kennison made his mark with seven seasons in Kansas City. Kennison said in a statement: "My family is extremely grateful to the Hunt family, Scott Pioli and the Chiefs organization for making this moment possible. Kansas City has a special place in our hearts, and has truly become our home."...

Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian just can't escape each other despite their public break-up. Formers Saints defensive end Bobby McCray recently married actress Khadijah Haqq, also a friend of Kardashian. with Reggie serving as one of McCray's groomsmen. Kardashian and Bush were also guests at the wedding of the Nuggets' Carmelo Anthony and La La Vazquez this month in New York Chris was also at the Anthony wedding where he announced he would like to be traded  to the Knicks if the Saints didn't improve soon. Cue up Barbara Streisand's :"The Way We Were."...
