Landrieu has served the state of Louisiana in the U.S. Senate for 18 years,  Currently, Sen. Landrieu is Chair of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee as well as the Homeland Appropriations Subcommittee. She also has chaired the Small Business Committee and the Congressional Coalition on Adoption.

JINDAL ENDORSES JINDAL IN INVITE

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has taken to the religious bully pulpit in his hopes to persuade the religious right to follow his path to the White House.

In an invitation to a religious revival sponsored by the State of Louisiana, Jindal warns of “a new world order of chaos…being driven by militant Islam seeking to impose Sharia Law worldwide” and domestic epidemics of “fatherless homes,” “drugs and crime in our inner cities” and “a saturation of pornography, abortion, racism,” problems for which Jesus Christ “is America’s only hope.”

According to a publication "rightwingwatch", Jindal's prayer materials include "blame gays and legal abortions" for Katrina.

Jindal dunks Obama in advance Arne Duncan's visit

Today, Governor Jindal issued the following statement ahead of Secretary Arne Duncan’s visit to New Orleans.

Governor Jindal said, "Following the election of Bill Cassidy to the U.S. Senate and the defeat of Mary Landrieu, President Obama has now decided to send Secretary Arne Duncan to Louisiana. The President said his policies were on the ballot this election, including Obamacare, Common Core and giving amnesty to illegal aliens. After he made that statement, the American people widely rejected those policies across the nation in red states, blue states and purple states. And here in Louisiana, Bill Cassidy opposed these policies, while Mary supported them — and Mary lost.

"So we have to wonder — is the President sending Secretary Duncan here to double down on these failed policies and bully us into federal overreach and the Obama Administration’s top-down education agenda? Or is he going to reach across the aisle and offer to work with the majority of Louisianians who support Louisiana’s successful bottom-up approach to  education that gives local control to our educators and parents? Mary Landrieu supported Common Core and was soundly defeated — the voters have spoken. We hope Secretary Duncan is coming to Louisiana to see how real education reform is benefitting kids and families in the real world, and we hope he wants to work with us.”

DIXON RESIGNS

Representative Herbert Dixon is the latest legislator to resign his seat.  He cites his health situation and spend more time with family, and pursue other opportunities.

Dixon has served in the House of Representatives for nearly a decade.  

To fill this seat, Speaker Charles Kleckley has called a special primary election to be held Saturday, February 21, 2015, with a qualifying period commencing on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 and ending at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015.
