mothersdayNot the kind of news you would want to hear or read about as Mothers Day nears.

But, here goes.

Of the fifty states and let's not forget about the District of Columbus, Louisiana is ranked smack last for "working moms".

In another survey from WalletHub, the state which is currently suffering from a $1.6B budget deficit, posseses a score that is not the type of present moms might want to receive.

But with women making up roughly half of the American labor force, the personal finance social network WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of 2015’s Best & Worst States for Working Moms.

In order to help ease the burden on an underappreciated segment of the population, WalletHub analyzed the attractiveness of each of the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia to a working mother. WalletHub used 12 key metrics such as median women’s salary, female unemployment rate and day care quality rankings.

While most likely not very pleased, if anyone can gloat over the new stats, it might be the Louisiana Democratic Party. Last week, a House committee voted against an equal pay legislation with nine republicans opposing the measure.

The state also ranked way below average for all but one of the criterion.
