Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced that Louisiana State Police Major Doug Cain will be detailed to serve in the Governor’s Communications Office effective Monday. Cain will serve as lead contact for the press on all inquiries to the Governor’s office and assist in managing communications across state agencies.

Cain will also continue to serve in his role at the Louisiana State Police and will be serving the Governor’s office in a detailed capacity. His salary will continue to be funded through the Department of Public Safety.

Governor Jindal also announced that Alexis Nicaud will be promoted to serve as Deputy Communications Director in the Governor’s office effective Monday.

Doug Cain is a career Louisiana State Trooper currently holding the rank of Major serving as the Executive Officer to the Louisiana State Police Superintendent. Prior to that role, Cain served as the Public Affairs Commander for the Department managing all aspects of media relations, public relations and public education. Cain has been employed by the Louisiana State Police for over 17 years having worked in the areas of operations, investigations and administration. Cain earned a Master of Public Administration from Louisiana State University.

Alexis Nicaud most recently served as Deputy Press Secretary in the Office of Governor Jindal. Prior to that role, Nicaud served as Press Assistance and prior to joining the Governor’s office, Nicaud interned with Louisiana Economic Development. Nicaud is a Baton Rouge native and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University.
