Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards addressing the State in preparation with a possible hurricane, Nate,
Comments from Governor Edwards:
Notes from Governor Edwards briefing, Thursday 4:40 Oct. 5
Believes the rain will not overwhelm pumps in New Orleans, based upon forecast and what New Orleans is reporting to the state. Governor is not unduly or overly concerned about the rain hitting New Orleans. The national guard will be assisting the City of New Orleans regarding the pumps.
Issac was category one, but go ask St. John what a category one can do.
It is no guarantee it is not more than a category one. When it enters gulf, the energy transfers into the storm itself. People need to be prepared, monitor the weather service for updtes and to listen to local elected officials.
Mandatory evacuation in parts of St. Bernard Parish, voluntary evacuation in Grand Isle.
Expected to be tropical storm or Category one hurricane.
